What is Test of Mathematics for University Admission (TMUA)?
The Test of Mathematics for University Admission (TMUA) is designed to give students the opportunity to demonstrate that they have the essential mathematical thinking and reasoning skills needed for a demanding undergraduate Mathematics or Mathematics-related course, such as Computer Science or Economics.
For applications to most universities, students can decide whether or not they want to share their results with the university after they have received them. This means TMUA gives students a risk-free opportunity to prove their potential, and in some cases to receive a reduced offer.
For applications to the University of Cambridge (Economics and Computer Science) TMUA is compulsory, except for mature students applying to one of the mature Colleges for Economics. All results will be shared automatically with the University of Cambridge.
Other top UK universities that accept results from the test include:
-
University of Bath
-
Cardiff University
-
Durham University
-
Lancaster University
-
London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)
-
University of Nottingham
-
University of Sheffield
-
University of Southampton
-
University of Warwick
These universities may use TMUA results as part of their admissions process to assess mathematical aptitude. For details, students should refer to each university’s website.
If you’re preparing for TMUA, working with an experienced university math tutor like Vic can help you master the test format, strengthen your logic, and build the confidence needed for success.
