About the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a rigorous, globally recognized curriculum designed for students aged 16 to 19. It encourages critical thinking, independent research, and academic excellence across six subject groups. From August 2019, the IB math curriculum was restructured, with first assessment in May 2021. The four available courses are:

This course emphasizes calculus along with algebraic, graphical, and numerical methods. Students develop strong mathematical thinking and become fluent in constructing logical arguments.

The Analysis and Approaches course is ideal for students who enjoy exploring both abstract and theoretical concepts in mathematics. It suits those planning to study math-heavy subjects at university, such as mathematics, engineering, physical sciences, or economics.

HL students should have strong algebra skills and enjoy solving challenging problems.

This course focuses on the practical application of mathematics. Students learn to use technology and mathematical models to solve real-world problems. It’s well-suited for students interested in subjects like social sciences, natural sciences, statistics, business, psychology, or design.

Those taking the HL version should be confident in algebra and solving applied problems using digital tools.

Vic is an experienced IB Math tutor who supports students taking both AA and AI courses at SL and HL levels. With over 15 years of experience working with international school students, Vic delivers focused lessons that break down complex ideas and lead to improved exam results.

About Internal Assessment

The Internal Assessment (IA) is a core component of the IBDP mathematics curriculum, requiring students to explore a mathematical topic through investigation and write a formal report. While important, many students struggle to begin their IA. They often lack experience in academic writing and are unsure how to develop a strong mathematical exploration supported by clear reasoning.

This is where a qualified IB Math tutor like Vic can help. With a Master’s degree and real research experience, Vic understands what makes a high-quality paper. Over the past 15 years, he has successfully guided numerous students through every stage of the IA process — from choosing a topic and structuring their investigation to writing, refining, and ultimately achieving excellent results.
